Strawberry Guava Seeds (Psidium cattleianum) – Palm Beach Farm – at least 25 seeds

Start your cultivation right with clean, uncompromised genetics sourced directly from top-tier stock. Native to South America and historically classified under the Myrtaceae family, the strawberry guava is a remarkable woody perennial that bridges elite fruit production and exceptional ornamental design.

The Flavor: Beyond Ordinary Guava

Unlike the common commercial guava (Psidium guajava), which often carries a heavy, highly musky aroma and profile, the strawberry guava (Psidium cattleianum) offers a distinctly superior taste experience. Its deep red-skinned fruit yields a translucent, juicy pulp that is noticeably sweeter, less acidic, and infused with a distinct, aromatic hint reminiscent of fresh strawberries. Whether pressed into fresh juice (which you can freeze for year-round smoothies or any other use), turned into preserves, or eaten fresh off the branch, the flavor profile is far cleaner, more refined, and vastly preferred by gourmet growers over standard supermarket varieties.

Botanical Characteristics & Tree Aesthetics

Psidium cattleianum grows naturally as an upright, multi-branched evergreen shrub or small tree.

Key features include:

  • Foliage: Glossy, dark green, leathery leaves with an opposite arrangement and smooth margins.
  • Bark: Smooth, attractive grey-to-reddish-brown bark that naturally peels in thin sheets, revealing striking underlying tones.
  • Flowers: Small, fragrant, single white blossoms featuring prominent stamens.
  • Unmatched Versatility: From Full-Scale Trees to Semi-Bonsai
  • Hardy Zones: USDA 9–11
  • Sun: Full sun

The architectural flexibility of the strawberry guava is one of its greatest assets.

Full-Scale Production: Left to mature naturally in the ground, a tree can reach heights of 15 to 25 feet, developing a dense, rounded canopy 20-25 feet in diameter that produces heavy seasonal yields of vibrant, smaller-than-a-golf-ball-sized red fruit. At 20 years, will be incredible looking and produce at least a half gallon of juice per tree--more mature trees can approach one full gallon of juice per tree. Fruits throughout July every year.

Ornamental & Semi-Bonsai Training: Thanks to its hard wood, natural branching habit, and smooth peeling bark, the plant responds exceptionally well to rigorous pruning. It can be easily sculpted into formal hedges, maintained as an architectural patio specimen, or trained into striking, highly detailed semi-bonsai forms. Will NOT fruit.

All Palm Beach Farm seeds are handled with absolute care to guarantee clean genetics and robust vitality from day one. We harvest thousands of strawberry guava seeds annually, and grow hundreds of them for sale once they've grown enough. These seeds were harvested in July 2026 and should maintain viability in indoor temperatures through late 2026, and when refrigerated not below 40F through March 2027 perhaps--plant the danged seeds, don't hoard them!
